Oranges and Lemon water

It's that time of the year again, and it seems like everyone around you is coming down with something. Here's how to beat the flu, or at least make it as fast and painless as possible, naturally.

1.get your vitamins fixed

During winter I make sure my cupboards are stocked with vitamin D, C and zinc. These three are a super good combination for getting rid of a flu and staying healthy. Remember, consistency is key! up

I know it's not always convenient but you can't beat a flu without resting. Your body needs to focus all of it's energy on healing, not anything else. So, take some time for yourself, watch your favorite tv show and let your body do it's thing.

3. nutrition

During a stressful time your body needs all the help it can get. Ginger, garlic and chili are a killer combination for battling that bad bacteria. Opt for a warm soup or stew, and make it spicy! Also try to include plenty of citrus fruit into your diet for that extra vitamin C.

Warm lemon water with ginger is a delicious holistic way to cure a sore throat. Feel free to throw in some turmeric, black pepper and garlic to make it even better for you! (but obviously less delicious). If you really want to take it to the next level, make a batch of super shots using the same ingredients to keep in your fridge and have daily. If you don't have a juicer, just use a blender and a splash of water and strain!

Echinacea, my personal favorite, is a flower that has multiple health benefits and has been used as a holistic medicine for the common cold for ages. You can find the extract in most pharmacies and in Helsinki you can even get it in some grocery stores. I like to use this one.

6. Positive thoughts

Catching a flu and staying home can be a real bummer, i know. But when has negativity ever helped anyone? I believe that our thoughts play a huge part in our overall health. Try to appreciate the little things, write your gratitude lists and even meditate to lift your mood. You got this.
